






At present there are 2 runways carrying 45 million passengers and 3 million tons of freight per year. Plans for the expansion of the airport are already in place and the potential is to double the present capacity as demand increases. The passenger terminal houses 360 checkin counters, 120 inbound passenger checkpoints and 72 outbound passenger checkpoints.
The south east region of Thailand is one of the most popular in the country, attracting millions of visitors from every corner of the world annually. Pattaya, and its quieter neighbour Jomtien Beach are rapidly becoming some of the country's premier travel destinations for British, American and northern European travellers with the climate, excellent exchange rate and diverse range of attractions and entertainment being the main reasons.
Previously, flights to Bangkok airport involved a 150km drive to reach Viewpoint Village. Now that many International flights go direct to Suvarnanbhumi you have only half the distance to travel, shaving approximately one hour off the journey.
Added to this, the new airport connects directly with Chonburi via a brand new road network built specially to ease the congestion on the old roads and to develop the area as a final destination for visitors. Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is located around approximately 40 minutes drive South East from the current Bangkok Don Muang International Airport. It is build on 3100 hectares of land in the Samut Prakarn province which you may know is where the famour crocodile farm is located. The main access road is an elevated 10 lane highway which is connected to the outer ring road network and also directiy connects to the Bangkok – Chonburi (Pattaya) motorway. Pattaya is now around a 1 hour and twenty minute drive.
Under construction is the new 26.6 kilometer high speed rail link from the airport to City Airport Terminal in Makkasan. Its planned completion date is November 2007. The City Airport Terminal network is connected to BTS (Bangkok Mass Transit System) Sukhumvit Line and MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) Blue Line at Phaya Thai and Phetchaburi stations respectively. The total journey will take approximately 15 minutes.

The new airport at Suvarnanbhumi (pronounced Sue - wan - a - poon) is now open, meaning that visitors to Thailand who stay with us in Viewpoint Village save approximately one hour from the transfer time compared to Bangkok airport.
The airport itself is worth a visit, as it incorporates one of the most prestigeous shopping malls in te country - King Power. Located almost opposite the Suan Pakkard palace, the complex combines art and culture with fun, shopping, dining and entertainment and is something no holidaymaker should miss.
Suvarnanhumi is an extensive national airport, one of six in Thailand and the country's major International airport playing a significant role in contributing to the economic and socialogical development of Thailand's southeast region.
