Book early for Pattaya International Music Festival 2010 or miss out
People planning to attend the 2010 Pattaya International Music Festival should book their accommodation early, as Pattaya City Mayor Itthiphol Kunplume is expecting all hotels in the city and surrounding area to be fully booked in the lead-up to, and during the event.
The ninth annual Pattaya International Music Festival will take place between March 19 and 21, with more than Bt40 million (about $US1.227 million) being spent by Pattaya City, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and GMM-Grammy to ensure this years event is bigger and better than last year.
Four sound stages will be set up along Beach Road Pattaya, with the possibility of two more being added, with visitors treated to a nightly performance by artists and performers from South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia, as well as some of Thailand’s most recognized performing artists.
The four confirmed sound stages to date are the variety and reggae stages to be sited in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach at Soi 9 and the Central Pattaya Intersection, the Indie and Thai pop stage in front of Soi 4, and the international music stage at Bali Hai Port.
Mr Itthiphol said hotel occupancy levels in Pattaya are currently running at 80 percent on weekends and between 60 and 65 percent during the week. There are about 70,000 hotel rooms in Pattaya and the mayor says he expects about 500,000 visitors to flock to the seaside city for the festival.
The 2010 Pattaya International Music Festival is one of Pattaya’s major annual events and is this year expected to generate about Bt500 million ($15.3 million) in revenue for Chon Buri Province business owners.
