open double quote We arrived from the UK jet lagged, hired a car at the airport and drove to Surin Bay in 30 minutes. We were wonderfully surprised by Surin Springs as the house turned out to be very well designed, in a small attractive complex with a delightful pool overlooking a lake complete with floating lilies and jumping fish! Our bedroom (the master) had a lovely balcony (where I would escape to read my book) facing the small lake. Every bedroom was spacious with good sized bathrooms and showers and with plenty of Thai touches such as the silk throws on the bottom of the beds!

We enjoyed our time at Surin Springs enormously as there was so much to do in the locality. For us the proximity of so much that suited our different needs and idea of a holiday was a great plus. A beautiful white sandy beach with safe swimming and warm turquoise water was only a few minutes walk away and we visited it early in the morning on a daily basis. There was an abundance of different restaurants located on the beaches and a favourite spot was the Surin Bay Inn where we occasionally had breakfast or a sundowner, the Sky Sports Screen and internet facility being an absolute must for our teenage son!

After a great week at Surin Springs we headed south the Panwa peninsula, less than an hour away but completely different – where we stayed in a villa called The Moorings right on the beach. Speinding a week in one spot of the island and then another in a contrasting area was an ideal way to have a two week holiday. We would love to return

June Flower Fair at Pattaya Floating Market

Пятница, 25 Июнь, 2010

Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Ekasing, Director of  Pattaya Tourism Authority Khun Niti Kongkru announced a ‘Flower Fair’ festival organised by the Pattaya Floating Market.

The hot season has turned to the rainy season, and this is typically a slow time for tourism in Pattaya. The political turmoil this year has not helped, and Pattaya Floating Market is looking for various ways to boost the number of visitors by hosting this Flower Fair.

The floating market on Sukhumvit Road, south of the city, is a destination point for both Thai and foreign tourists, and they  can visit free of charge to browse the shops, or buy food and merchandise from the many boat vendors. It is usually a bustling place full of tour buses, and the merchants would like to see it return to its usual vitality.

Pattaya Floating Market believes in the importance of conserving Thai culture and a simple traditional Thai lifestyle, so the big fair will be held on the 27th of June with the slogan “Return to beauty and simplicity with traditional Thai flowers, food and culture from every region.”
