Ryo Ishikawa to Become Golf Ambassador of Thailand
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently offered the post of Thailand Gold Ambassador for 2010 to Japanese golf ace Ryo Ishikawa, which he subsequently accepted. Ryo Ishikawa is a favourite of the Thai people, and therefore makes a perfect choice for this honorary position.
Ryo has been a member of the Asian team on several occasions, including the 2009 PGA Royal Trophy, which they won. This prestigious event took place at the Amata Springs Country Club in Bangkok.
The signing ceremony for the post of Golf Ambassador of Thailand took place in Japan on the 26th of December.
With over 250 world class golf courses to offer, Thailand is a major provider of Golf in Asia and the Japanese have historically made up a large percentage of this form of tourism.
If we consider this, along with the fact that Ryo Ishikawa is a favourite with Thai golfers, then it is clear to see that offering him this position is entirely logical.
Mr. Vichai Srikwan, Chairperson of the TAT Board of Directors, said “Ryo Ishikawa is currently a golf teen star among women, children, teenagers, working group, and senior citizens in Japan and other countries. We are proud and happy that he has agreed to be our Ambassador.”
It is obvious that TAT thought long and hard, before settling upon Ryo as their prime candidate for the position of Golf Ambassador, and this level of due diligence has obviously paid off, if the positive response to his acceptance is anything to judge by.
Did you know that?
Thailand is the only country in South East Asia which has never been occupied as a European colony. It neighbours Myanmar (Burma), Malaysia, Cambodia and Laos, have all been under British or French control at some point in time.
