"We Did Not Want to Go Home!"
I made the plans for the trip. We stayed in a villa once before, in Spain. Worlds apart.. The Lakeside house is beautiful. The location has spectacular views of the mountains. The golf course is right behind. The amount of things to do here is amazing. The staff were great. We had trips planned most days and we enjoyed family evenings in the villa or visited the night life. We hired the Lakeside cook to take care of most of meals and we want to take her home with us. Seriously. After 2 days of using my phrase book I found out she speaks pretty good english but was too shy/polite to interrupt me We got a car with the package. A Toyota Fortuner. It seats 7 and having the children, this kind of mobility was great. Lakeside has a minibus with driver and that came in handy for a couple of nights out on the town. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and all of us felt at home. The size of the villa was a real plus too. I agree that being able to really unpack and be at home makes a big difference. There is even a laundry here. I came to thailand several years ago and the exchange rate of the baht has changed a lot but we still found that we got good value for our money in Thailand. The amount of english language spoken has also increased quite a bit. We made friends with the people staying in the other villas, and got together in the evenings. We never really did this on previous holidays. We really enjoyed our stay.
Siam Country Club is located slightly inland from Pattaya. Siam Country Club manages to combine one of the best examples of Asian golf facilities with one of the most challenging courses to be found anywhere in Thailand. The course is set within fully landscaped grounds across a series of low hills. The entire area is planted with tropical plants and is maintained meticulously.
For players on a golf holiday Siam Country Club offers world class golf in truly stunning surroundings. The club has hosted a large number of national and international tournaments and is cited as being the premier location for golf events in Thailand. The Siam Country Club was closed for the entire 2006 season and underwent a huge amount of renovation and redevelopment, it reopened its gates in 2007, gifting the golfing community in Thailand with well laid out fairways, strategically placed bunkers and several water hazards. The clubhouse at Siam Country Club is noted to be of excellent quality, offering an exceptional level of service.
The only criticism seems to be the policy of compulsory cart hire, with the carts being banned from travelling on the fairways. In 2008 the long anticipated 27 hole course “Plantation” was finally opened, adding an exciting and demanding course for even the most experienced player.
Siam Country Club was designed by I Izumi and opened in 1971. The course was redeveloped in 2006 and reopened in 2007. New Plantation course opened in 2008.
